There are 3 routes up and down Newport Coast; depending on the day of the week, a cyclist may find a landscaper’s truck blocking the bike lane on his preferred route.

Cars are traveling fast, like on most arterials; some roads have 60mph speed limits.

According to David Huntsman, “there’s no room for error,” when cyclists are forced out of the bike lane by an offending truck and into the high speed traffic lane.

Has the Bike Safety Committee looked into this issue?
Yes, but the dangerous conditions remain.

On any given day, whichever route you choose, there will be high speed cars in the travel lanes and landscapers’ trucks blocking the bike lane
