But it does happen and is one of the most catastrophic kinds of accidents. It has happened before on the Coast Highway in Corona del Mar. Justin Newman of San Diego was thrown of his bicycle and struck his head on the ground after after he was hit by the door on University Avenue, west of Kansas Street, about 7 p.m. Wednesday, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
