On the 3rd try, Governor Brown signed AB1371 into law. Often called Give Me 3, the California Bicycle Coalition labored through 2 previous campaigns that ended with a veto. Today’s action moves California into the mainstream of bike safety.
Many Californians who want to ride their bikes on streets and roads won’t ride because they’re concerned about drivers who pass too closely. They’ve either seen or heard about a bicyclist who was buzzed or hit by a passing car and they’re scared!
How will this new law be enforced?
Will it have the effect we all hope?
